Description

Four dramatic large-format fold-out color lithographed maps of the world's ocean floors, printed more than 50 years ago.
These maps show the topography of the earth's surface beneath the waters of the Arctic, Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans, beautifully painted by Austrian landscape artist Heinrich Berann.
The dramatic rendering of the underwater landscape gives a 3-D perspective to the ocean floor.
The scans above show each map opened up, along with some of the detail and the artist's distinctive signature.
